Working on a personal project could boost your creativity, motivation, and confidence. It could also help you develop new skills and a range of personal projects could be put together as a portfolio to showcase in a future job interview or course application.
What would you love to find out more about?
How could you relate it to subjects that you are studying?
Here is an example taken from something I saw in a shop - a teapot. How could you create a project about a teapot and what subjects could it be related to?
- Maybe you could research what it was made of?
- Perhaps you could research the maker of the pot? (History)
- Perhaps you could study the design of the pot? (Art)
- Perhaps you could draw the design of the pot? (Art)
- Perhaps you could research the history of tea? (History)
- Perhaps you could research the cost of teapots and who is the most expensive and why? (Business)
- Perhaps you could research different types of teabags/tea leaves and their healthy properties? (wellness)
- This could lead onto researching how many cups of tea are drunk on average per person/county etc? (Maths?)
And so the list could go on...
Depending on your interests and goals. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Remember, the key is to choose a project that excites you and allows you to express your creativity and passions. Good luck with your personal project!
